Browser extension (coming soon)
A Chrome and Edge extension that runs the same check while you browse. It is coming soon and cannot be installed yet.
Anyone who wants to see whether a site, X account or email sender is verified without copying and pasting.
- Click the Proof Rail icon in your browser toolbar to open the popup.
- On a website, the popup shows "This site" and the result for that site's address.
- On X or Gmail, it shows "This page": the profile or post author on X, or the sender of the open email in Gmail.
- The toolbar icon shows ✓ when the site you are on is verified, and ! when the site looks like a verified brand's but is not on its official channels.
- Small marks also appear next to X handles, wallet addresses and the Gmail sender on the page.
- To check anything else, type it in the popup's "Is this real?" box and press Check on proofrail.me.
- This site
- The website you are on, checked by its address.
- This page
- On a platform such as X or Gmail, the account or sender shown on the page, not the platform itself.
- ✓ Verified by Proof Rail
- On an active Proof Rail record, with the brand name when there is one.
- Not on a brand's official channels
- Looks like a verified brand's site or address, but is not one of them.
- No verified record found
- Not on any public Proof Rail record.
- Could not check right now
- The check did not complete. Try again in a moment.
- On proofrail.me the popup shows "This site" and "✓ Verified by Proof Rail" (example of what it will show).
Screenshot to come
- It looks up the domain of each website you visit (never the full address, and not platforms such as x.com or gmail.com), @handles on x.com, wallets it sees on the page, and the sender of an email you open in Gmail. It sends one value per request, with no cookies, and Proof Rail does not store or log it. The privacy policy at proofrail.me/privacy has the details.
- It checks Proof Rail's signature on every answer before showing it, and keeps answers on your device for 10 minutes.
- Until it is available, use proofrail.me/check.
